Electrical Measurement Technology
What are the laboratory’s responsibilities?
The laboratory is primarily intended to provide comprehensive training in measurement techniques for all students in Department 04. In addition, members of the university from other departments can also receive support with measurement tasks involving specific requirements.
Laboratory facilities:
15 networked workstations for internships, equipped as follows:
- Workstation computer with a PCIe data acquisition card and a LabVIEW system
- LeCroy WaveJet 312A digital storage oscilloscope (100 MHz, 2-channel)
- Agilent 33521A Function Generator (Arbitrary Waveform Generator, 30 MHz)
- Agilent 34410A benchtop multimeter (6½-digit resolution)
- Metrahit Energy handheld multimeter with power measurement probe
- LCR meter with freely selectable measurement frequencies (range 50 Hz – 1 MHz)
- Agilent E3648A power supply unit
In addition, the following measuring instruments, amongst others, are available as single units:
- LeCroy Waverunner digital storage oscilloscope (400 MHz, 4-channel)
- Agilent 34410A benchtop multimeters, calibrated at regular intervals
- NI PXIe system with source-measure unit, FlexDMM, DAQ and FPGA cards
- NI MyDAQ USB data acquisition device
Laboratory projects (past and present):
Over the past few semesters, the laboratory has provided metrological support for a wide variety of projects, ranging from student projects to publicly funded research projects. The project topics included, amongst others:
- Energy-efficient production of thermally sprayed coatings
- Optimising energy use in domestic solar power systems
- acoustic camera
- Ultrasonic anemometer
- FPGA-based Doppler sonography for near-surface vessels
- FPGA-based audio effects unit
