Computer applications
What is the role of the Computer Applications Laboratory?
The Computer Applications Laboratory is primarily a teaching laboratory used for computer exercises and internships for courses such as Signals and Systems, Electrodynamics, and Modelling and Simulation at the bachelor's degree and master's degree levels. Project work and final assignments dealing with the simulation of fields, systems or networks can also be carried out in this laboratory.
Laboratory facilities?
The laboratory is equipped with 16 new PCs, 15 of which are for students. The computers are desktop PCs with an Intel Core i5 @ 3.2GHz CPU, 16 GB RAM and a 512 GB SSD. The following simulation programmes and simulation environments, amongst others, are pre-installed (as of the winter semester 2023/24): LTspice XVII, QucsStudio 4.2.2, MATLAB 2023a, COMSOL Multiphysics 6.0 and Dassault Dymola 2023.
Laboratory projects (past and present)?
In addition to a number of smaller student projects, in recent years, for example, the Master’s thesis ‘Analysis of Sound Fields’ investigated the radiation behaviour of many individual loudspeakers arranged conformally on a closed surface (e.g. 12 loudspeakers on a dodecahedron) using COMSOL Multiphysics.
Where is the laboratory located?
E-Bau, Room E201
Any questions?
