Azure Developer Tools for Teaching
The Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology has been participating in the Azure Developer Tools for Teaching programme (formerly known as the MSDN Developer Network Academic Alliance or MSDNAA) since 2001. This is an annual subscription that enables Professors, staff members and students enrolled at the Hochschule München to be provided with licences for certain Microsoft products free of charge, subject to certain conditions.
This programme is a subscription limited to the STEM degree programmes at Hochschule München and has been part of the Microsoft 365 A3 programme since 1 May 2021.
Since 1 May 2021, you should therefore be able to log in using your hm.edu email account.
- Select the link to the Azure Cloud: https://aka.ms/devtoolsforteaching
- Go to ‘Sign in >’ (or ‘Log in >’)
- Now enter your HM email address as your username.
- You will then be redirected to the HM Shibboleth authentication page, where you can log in as usual.
If the redirection does not work correctly, or if you find that certain services are missing, you can access them via the following workaround

- Register there using your personal email address (e.g. Max.Mustermann@gmail.com) or create a separate email account for Microsoft.

- Please confirm your email address using the security code that will be sent to that email address.
Microsoft handles software distribution via its Azure Cloud.

- Go to 'Sign in >' (or 'Log in >')
and enter the Microsoft Live account details you have just created. - Select the ‘Private account’ or ‘Personal account’ option if prompted
to do so - Your account will then be verified and you will be asked to confirm your student status.
- Please enter your HM email address.
- You will then receive an email containing a validation link.
- Follow the instructions in the email and, once your account has been validated, you will be able to access the Azure Cloud using your Microsoft Live account.
Please note: In addition to the desktop software download, the Azure Cloud also offers paid services. The university accepts no liability and will not cover any costs arising from the use of paid services accessed via your HM email address.
