Corporate Speed Dating 2018

As the ‘corporate speed dating’ format received very positive feedback last year, the departmental student representation has once again based this year’s event on the successful format from the previous year. Interested students from every department looking for an internship, a part-time student job or a topic for a bachelor's degree or Master’s thesis were able to register via the departmental student representation’s portal and were thus divided into small groups across the three ‘dating’ cycles. In the familiar ‘speed dating’ style, the students then rotated in cycles between the stands set up by the participating companies. This year, each ‘date’ lasted 6 minutes and was signalled to an end by a clearly audible gong. A presenter from departmental student representation 04 guided the proceedings and ensured that the time limits were adhered to.

After each date, interested students could pop their business card into the contact box, thereby giving the company a way to get in touch.

This year, it was decided to allow the companies so-called ‘short dating breaks’ between rounds. During these breaks, participants could take a quick breather or top up their coffee. In the two longer breaks at the end of each dating round, the students were then able to delve deeper into conversations they had already started with company representatives.

Judging by the feedback and the general atmosphere, the event was a real success for both sides – students and companies alike.

Special thanks, of course, go to the company representatives who took part, but also, naturally, to the hard-working student representatives from Department 04, without whose weeks of dedication this event would not have been possible.
