Corporate Speed Dating 2026
Around 100 students met representatives from eight companies – with brief discussions, new insights and concrete prospects for starting their careers.
On 15 April 2026, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology hosted its 9th annual corporate speed-dating event. A total of eight companies took the opportunity to engage directly with the students. Prof. Dr. Alexander Engeln and departmental student representatives Peter Urban welcomed the participants at the start of the event.
In small groups, the discussions rotate at regular intervals: the students have nine minutes at each stop to get to know a company, ask questions and make initial contacts. They then move straight on to the next stop. This allows for a large number of personal conversations to take place in a short space of time – without lengthy application processes.
Former students were also in attendance; they now work in various companies and shared their perspectives.
The discussions focused on specific entry-level opportunities: from internships and part-time student jobs to bachelor's degree and Master's theses, as well as first jobs after graduation.
This year, for the first time, the format was supplemented by short company presentations. In ten-minute slots, the participating companies provided insights into their working environments, presented projects and showed students what to expect behind the scenes. The topics ranged from electric mobility and Energy Technology to the semiconductor industry.
As well as technical topics, personal experiences and recommendations were also shared. At the same time, it became clear just how diverse the future fields of work are – ranging from traditional engineering tasks through to communication-related roles and interdisciplinary projects.
The students made the most of the opportunity, asked specific questions and engaged in conversation with the companies.
Conclusion
The event was characterised by a very positive atmosphere, keen interest from both sides, and well-attended discussion sessions and talks. The corporate speed-dating event has once again proved to be an accessible and effective way to make contacts and prepare for the next step towards starting a career.
